Essential Verbs
ප්රධාන ක්රියා
sein (to be), haben (to have), and the pattern behind every regular verb.
These two verbs appear in almost every German sentence. Learn all six forms of each by heart before moving on.

Example sentences

Regular verb conjugation pattern
Most German verbs follow a simple pattern: remove '-en' from the infinitive to get the stem, then add the ending for each pronoun. Example: wohnen (to live) → stem 'wohn-'.

sein and haben are irregular — you simply must memorize all six forms. Almost every other verb you'll meet at A1 follows the regular pattern above.
